Policy Committee

Background

The Policy Committee exists to further the Coalition's Policy Program goal to deliver focused and well coordinated policy tools for the community food security movement in the US. The Committee also manages the Coalition's policy formation process. We meet in-person at the annual conference to review policy priorities. Those interested in more active policy work meet via conference call every other week to strategize on current legislative efforts and share updates. Committee members also play a vital role in targeted outreach in specific districts and states during the federal legislative calendar.

In the past year, the Committee advised and worked with policy staff on a successful campaign to pass Farm to Cafeteria legislation. In 2005, we will undertake a campaign to appropriate funds for the Farm to Cafeteria legislation, as start developing new policy priorities in anticipation of the 2007 Farm Bill, and work with our partner organizations on other issues as well.

How to Get Involved
