Community Food Assessments, A Tool for Change

Don't miss this opportunity to learn about a creative way to highlight food-related resources and needs, promote collaborations and community participation, and create lasting change. Participatory workshops will cover the nuts and bolts and potential benefits of conducting a Community Food Assessment. Workshops will be led by experienced trainers who have worked closely with community groups to conduct assessments.

  • May 29, 2002 - Fresno
  • June 18, 2002 - Los Angeles
  • June 20, 2002 - East Bay Area

Cost:

The registration fee for the all-day workshop is $25 (lunch is included). We do not want to exclude anyone due to lack of funds. Please contact us if you'd like to request a scholarship (requests are due one week prior to workshop date.) Space is limited; register early!

Community Food Assessments can help you:

  • Initiate new projects with community support and involvement
  • Build the case for additional resources
  • Advocate for change in your community and on a larger scale
  • Engage community members in learning about food health
  • Gain a greater understanding of local needs and resources

  • Tips on how to start an assessment
  • Information and resources available
  • Possible outcomes for your community

Workshop participants will receive:

A comprehensive guidebook on conducting Community Food Assessments and other related materials. Groups who choose to conduct assessments can receive additional support from CFSC.
